12 Days of Christmas Devotional: Discovering the Real Jesus

DAY 8 OF 12

Day Eight: Jesus is our Companion.

"And remember that I am always with you until the end of time." — Matthew 28:20.

Sometimes I feel like I’m being pulled in a thousand different directions all at once... and when I read my Bible, I’m blown away by how Jesus operated with such a unique degree of peace and clarity all the time.

In a time when He faced so much opposition, what gave Him so much peace? He was full of the Holy Spirit and confident in His Father’s love. These same two truths are the same with us, as believers. The Holy Spirit is with us, and in us; and the Father’s love is unfailing and unending toward us.

Jesus said, “I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to Him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20.

What a comforting promise of God’s presence. He longs to be with you, regardless of how many times you’ve come short of your expectations. We do not need to perform for God’s attention. We have His full attention, and we are the apple of His eye.

Today, embrace the relationship you have with Jesus. We all long for companionship. And He longs for it with you. Lean into His bosom as John did (John 13:23), and you will feel His heartbeat and hear His voice. He’s always leaning toward you. Rest confidently in this love He has for you.

Say So: Jesus is my Companion. He longs to fellowship with me. He is leaning toward me and I choose today to lean upon His bosom, like John did. He loves me and will be with me always. Therefore I am not afraid.
