Mission First

DAY 2 OF 3

Intercessory Prayer

Placing the mission first in the military requires selflessness and alertness.  The soldier must consider the welfare of others and stay vigilant. Similarly, those in God’s kingdom have been called to a life of selflessness and prayer. The life of a Christian is not meant to be about “me, myself and I” or “me and my family”. That kind of Christian life is boring, selfish, and keeps the Christian short of God’s best. God wants us to bear the burden of others (Galatians 6:2)

The Holy Ghost power was given to believers so we can do many impossible things for the good of humanity (Matthew 10:7-10). This power is not simply available for our personal use and the Holy Spirit wants to help us pray God’s perfect will (Romans 8:26).

When I became a mom, I entered new mental and spiritual states that allowed me to feel the pain of little children and other moms. Seeing an Amber alert for a missing child or reading about child molestation became more painful and bothersome. The pain of mothers whose children have chosen the wrong path became my pain. I quickly learned to give these pains, weights, and worries to God in prayer. It would have been selfish to ignore what I felt and it would have been tormenting to not give the burdens to God in prayer.

Instead of feeling helpless about the possibility of child molestation and other kinds of child abuse taking place in my community, I pray. Instead of feeling sorry for other mothers; I carry their pain or bear their burden in such a way that it enables me to pray fervently.  I allow the Holy Spirit to help me pray (Romans 8:26) and I pray until the burden on my heart lifts.

Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons we have as soldiers of Christ.

Today, I invite you to bear the burden of children in your community or school and the pain of mothers whose children are making destructive choices or have departed from the faith. The Holy Spirit wants you to partner with him as an intercessor. Your prayers of intercession can bring healing to families in your community, expose child-trafficking networks in your city, and bring about the salvation of children on the path of destruction. Your prayers can help people experience heaven on earth and bring about the salvation of souls from the destructive works of the enemy.

This is an invitation to a life of intercession. Please accept the invitation and watch God reward you as you sow the seed of prayer.
