The Gift: Advent Bible PlanНамуна
Real Love
“What more do I need?
When I got you I feel complete
I can feel Your presence around me
It’s the best gift under the tree”
Praise God for the gift He gives us in himself. What could the human heart desire more than to be unconditionally loved, eternally secure, and made righteous before a Holy God? If we take account of even a few of the gifts God gives us, we'll see just how determined He is to satisfy us in himself. As we close out this study, we hope you will see the gifts of God's Son, God’s Word, and God’s Spirit as sufficient to supply every need we have.
In Christ, the Son of God, we have the forgiveness of sin. We have the full revelation of God that has walked among us and able to relate to every temptation we could encounter. Further, in Christ we have the only one able to take the full wrath of God and not be crushed by it. This is the Jesus we serve—the suffering savior who broke his body and became our bridge back to relationship with God!
In God’s word, we have the power of God that was used to create the universe. From the beginning of time, God has demonstrated who He is, through the power of his word! By his word, he caused the universe to exist, by his Word, through Christ, he raised the dead and healed the sick. And by his word, he has given us instruction for life and godliness. There are times we may feel spiritually distant from God, but this distance will never be reality because we will always have God present in his word to read, meditate, and reflect upon.
Finally, we have God’s Spirit. God’s Spirit is the force that brought order to God’s creation. God’s Spirit is the Great Helper that reminds us of all of God’s truth in the day to day moments where application is needed. God’s Spirit is the seed deposited in us at the time of faith, which calls back out to God and will never be denied on our behalf. God’s Spirit is the downpayment of our inheritance to come on the day we are finally united with God and Christ in eternity!
The Bible goes to great lengths to describe what we have in God’s Son, God’s Word, and God’s Spirit. There aren’t enough days available for a Bible study to capture the magnitude of these gifts given to us by Him. We hope you spend time this holiday season reflecting on the good news of the Gospel and that it would guide your heart and mind by the peace accomplished by Jesus Christ!
Prayer: Take time today and give thanks to God for the great gifts we have in his Word, His Son and in his Spirit.
