Real Hope: Joy

DAY 3 OF 5

Use Your Voice and Sing for Joy!

Earlier this year I met Astrid Jorgensen who had started something in Brisbane called Pub Choir. It’s pretty much self-explanatory—800 people gather in a room, and Astrid teaches them a song in three-part harmony, and by the end of the night, they perform the song. These monthly meetings have become so popular that they sell out in minutes.

Astrid’s passion is seeing people find confidence in using their voices to sing loud and proud and enjoy doing so. If you look up videos on YouTube, you’ll see the joy on the faces in the crowd as they sing. And the cool thing is that this is the instrument that we’ve all been gifted with—all we need to do is open our mouths and make noise (whether in or out of tune is another matter).

It’s interesting that singing in groups is becoming cool again because Christians have been doing it in church gatherings for a very long time. The Bible is filled with songs and examples of God’s people lifting their voices to their Creator. We shouldn’t worry about how well we can sing, because our motivation for doing so is gratitude from within. God has done so much for us, so let’s sing loudly His praises together!

About this Plan

Real Hope: Joy

In the Bible the word "joy" is mentioned over 200 times. It seem like it is an emotion that we as Christians should intrinsically understand and be able to relate to, but sometimes this is not the case. This plan has been designed to help you explore the gift of joy!
