The Light of His Presence

DAY 3 OF 5

Day Three: A Prayer of Thanksgiving for the Power of the Cross

Beloved Son of the Father,

Thank You for the Cross. Thank You that Your blood is just as powerful today as it was two thousand years ago when the first drop was shed on Calvary. Thank You that through Your blood we have redemption and the forgiveness of our sins. Thank You that You cleanse us of all unrighteousness when we use the same labels for sin that You do, as we humbly and honestly confess our sins to You.

We fall at the foot of the cross and repent of every sin that made Your death necessary. Every sin that even now is provoking Your displeasure.

I confess __________ (fill in the blank with any sin that comes to mind).

Thank You that our every sin is nailed to the cross and we no longer bear its penalty or guilt.

Thank You that You invite forgiven sinners to draw near to You with sincere hearts in full assurance of faith. Thank You that we can ask according to Your will, knowing that You hear us.

We ask that You would increase within us a magnificent obsession to know You in a personal, intimate, loving relationship. Give us spirits that reject religion, that do not settle for knowing about You or going through the motions of rituals and traditions and ceremonies. Lead us to embrace You fully at any cost. Open the eyes of our hearts so we might live with eternity in view. Fill us with Your power so we overcome our addictions, bad habits, temptations, and half-hearted discipleship. Give us miracles in answer to prayer. Not for our own credit, but so the world may know that our God is God and that You answer the prayers of Your people when they cry out to You.

With thankfulness for the salvation and forgiveness that are ours through the Cross, we pray in the name of Your Son and our Savior—Jesus.

Amen.

About this Plan

The Light of His Presence

Many of us long to speak to God, but we struggle to establish a habit of daily prayer. Anne Graham Lotz has found that writing out her prayers helps her focus her heart and mind, drawing her to greater intimacy with God. The five prayers in this devotional are drawn from Anne’s own prayers of worship, confession, thanksgiving, and intercession.
