Influence
In this final day of our plan together, let’s talk about the value of influence in your leadership platform.
Influence is the ability to steer the course of a person’s life toward a meaningful outcome. In the case of a Christian, influence is our ability to point others toward the transformative power of Jesus Christ and encourage them to submit their lives daily to his lordship. Godly influence is levied by godly people. “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Matthew 23:12 NLT). God grants influence to those whose integrity has been proven in private.
How we influence others is critical in how we steward our platforms. In building a platform, we need to make our salvation and ministry the foundation—the substance of what God has called us to steward. We may not be called to establish a corporation or a faith-based company. But we can discern where God is leading us based on the places and frequency with which he’s using our voice.
As we build our platforms, we must be sure that God is promoting us rather than we are promoting ourselves. We have to daily release the praises of others and redirect them to God, because any platform begins and ends with him.
In this final day, consider James’ words about the power of the tongue to shape the course of a life, and pray God would help you use your influence to build up others.
