PREPARE - A Student Reading Plan Exploring Your Call

DAY 6 OF 7

Timothy

When Paul wrote this letter, he wanted to ensure that Timothy, a young pastor, understood what it meant to live a godly life. He called Timothy to set the example for the believers.

How?

  • In speech
  • In conduct
  • In love
  • In faith
  • In purity

These things would enable Timothy to serve God faithfully and do his ministry well.

It’s easy to think we have plenty of time to change. We don’t have to start now because there is plenty of time later. Don’t let your age stop you. Start now!

Developing healthy habits now will help you prepare for and sustain yourself in ministry.

  • Spending regular time with the Lord will help you grow deep roots in your faith.
  • Reading His Word will guide your heart and mind.
  • Prayer has real power to change things and direct your life.
  • Serving others will help you learn humility and what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

These habits and rhythms of life will set you up to serve God faithfully in ministry and to have a lifetime of growth in your relationship with Jesus. As a result, the ministries you are a part of and those you lead will be greatly blessed.

Questions

  1. What verses stood out to you in 1 Timothy 4? Did you feel like there was anything within the passage you really needed to hear?
  2. What healthy habits do you already have in your walk with Jesus? What habits should you work on?
  3. What are practical ways for you that you can begin to grow regularly in discipline and in your relationship with Jesus?

Prayer

God, help me to grow closer to You through the habits I develop. I pray that You guide me in reading Your Word, in praying regularly, and in serving others. Help me to become more like Jesus and represent You to others. Amen.
