Pursuing God's Power

DAY 2 OF 3

The year 2020 was full of bad news and tough situations but, on a good note, it also brought a record number of funny pictures and memes! When the pressure and stress build up, sometimes the quickest way to shift your perspective is to step back and look at the big picture through the lens of humor.

Thankfully, we have a hope that extends far beyond a temporary laugh. And to be honest, some of you may have experienced tragedy and loss this year that make any lightness or sense of levity seem impossible. Right now, the weight of despair, depression, and hopelessness may feel crushing.

The solution isn’t to struggle through on our own, it’s to put our faith in God’s power. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 God tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” He’s telling us that we experience His power the most when we are willing to be open about our weakness.

Sometimes His power doesn’t come until we’re at the end of our rope. When we’re done trying to work everything out on our own, then God can come in and do what He needs to do.

The Bible brings the right perspective to every situation we face and sustains us through hard times. When we read God’s word, we’ll be reminded of His promises, aligned with His thoughts, and equipped for the battles we face.

We always say: never leave your house in the morning without a word from the Lord! You never know what the day will bring, but when God’s word is stored in your heart, you have the key to victory.

In Ephesians, Paul want us to know the hope that HE calls us to. It’s not about our plans and expectations, it’s about God’s will for our lives. God has called us to a future filled with hope.

Anchoring ourselves in His word will fill us with expectation for something more and help us walk out boldly in His power.

Prayer:

Lord, we pray that you would reveal the hope of your calling and show us what you have for us personally in this season. We ask for a fresh hunger for your Word. We thank you that no matter how challenging our circumstances, and how weak we feel, we have your power to sustain us!
