The Daily Dose

DAY 3 OF 3

If sleep is an important part of resting our bodies, minds, spirits, and souls, nourishment is an equally important partner. When seasons of stress, chaos, and busyness occur, often we forget to even eat. Fueling our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit, with a healthy lifestyle is very important. Sometimes circumstances and other factors make healthy eating difficult, and disordered eating is very real. It affects many people, so getting professional help and counseling in those instances is actually positive and recommended. But healthy eating and healthy mindsets around eating are only a few ways that we nourish ourselves. Our digestive health will inform our mental health, which will inform our spiritual health.

We are also encouraged to nourish ourselves with the Word of God. During times of crisis and chaos, we need to remember the tools we have been given that will bring us through difficult seasons. Jesus was in the desert hungry, tired, and tested by the Devil himself. In that instance, he dug deep for the scripture that he memorized. He recalled the Word of God and leaned on that truth to get him through that challenge and season of uncertainty. When we pay attention to the Word of God, we are able to hear the nourishment that He is giving us for the next part of our journey.

Questions:

  • What verse or verses have you been reading in the Word that have been coming up repeatedly? What do you think God is saying to you through these scriptures?
  • Take some time this week to memorize scripture. Where is God leading you in the Bible? How can you apply this scripture this week?
