There's Hope For Today

DAY 12 OF 366

Missions trips have given me a new appreciation of the choices we enjoy in America.

During a recent visit to the grocery store, I stopped counting dry cereal varieties when I passed one hundred ... everything from flakes to pops, loops, fruits, nuts and whole grains. I quit counting pickle varieties at fifty. My grocer stocks more than 75 meal choices for the discriminating canine. Multiple-choice is all the rage today, even in the church. We are besieged by consumerism that demands an expanded menu of ministries with drive-up service. Tolerance demands that we accept everything in the name of unity, turning a blind eye to truth. In the Old Testament, the children of Israel strayed into idolatry by blending religions rather than worshipping the one true God. Their option-driven religion resulted in moral collapse and God’s judgment.

Truth only comes in one flavor. God can only be known through Jesus Christ who said, “You will know the truth and the truth will make you free.” Variety is the spice of life, but when it comes to eternal life, there is no multiple-choice.
