Ephesians: How to Love Like JesusНамуна
Devotional:
Paul is famous for his final flourish and exhortation as he concludes letters with personal greetings and final thoughts. But in his letter to Ephesus, Paul is short and succinct in his conclusion. Having conveyed his final thoughts about standing firm in the armor of God, he ends by encouraging the Ephesians to pray, and then sends a fellow Christian, Tychicus, as an encouragement to their faith.
As you strive to walk in the love of Jesus and live as His disciples, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Pray to God — He is always ready to listen to you. Join a church or a youth group or a Bible study and remember the value of the Christian community.
Questions:
- In verse 18, Paul encourages the Ephesians to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” How do you view prayer? How often do you pray? How could Paul’s view on prayer change the way you pray?
- Paul sent Tychicus to be with the Church of Ephesus and encourage them in their faith. Faith is never done alone as we are part of the body of Christ. Think about your community. How do you encourage one another in faith?
- Paul ends his letter with love and grace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ. Who can you share His love and grace with today?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of Your word through Paul in Ephesians. Thank you for all You have taught me. I pray that I will walk in the light of Jesus, choosing to love with a servant-heart, just as Jesus did. Help me to keep meeting with other believers, strengthening the body of Christ, and help me share Your good news with those who don’t yet know You. Amen.
