Make the Most of LifeНамуна
Today is a new day (it’s Day 2!). Repeat. Today. Is. A. New. Day. That is a powerful statement. Find joy in this statement! Easier said than done, but don’t worry about the future, and don’t worry about the past. Put an asterisk next to that statement above because past lessons steer us, and future aspirations drive us. Back to our primary goal, which is to make the most out of every day. How do we do that? Let’s take a look at the book of James.
James 4:13 - 14 says, “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” Woah! Think about that for a second, a mist…
On June 18th, my fraternity brother and I talked for hours, discussing life and making plans to spend time together in Kansas City during training camp at the end of July. On July 9th, just three weeks later, his life was taken, a man in his 30s with a young child. Shocked, confused, and looking for answers, this reminded me how we don’t have control, how short life is, and how unfair life can really be. As mentioned earlier, we are just a “mist.” I urge you to grasp this idea of the scarcity of life in order to guide us in making the most of every day. Life is short, and its problems - shorter. I pray that we learn and grow into not dwelling over the little things, overcoming temporary pain, and prioritizing our time and thoughts better. Give thanks to the gift of life today.
Reflection:
What can you give thanks for today despite your circumstances?
About this Plan
Make the most of life. This motto is easy to say but complex to actually do amid life’s challenges. But in order to make the most of life, we must make the most out of every day, more specifically, each moment. Every day is (and can be) a battle. But the good thing is, you're equipped, and it's a battle you can win. Let's discuss ways to maximize life.
