Day 5: Anthem of Faith
When I find myself asking a simple question, “what can I do, Lord?” The answer every time is a simple word: faith. Make no mistake: faith is from God, and yet it’s also what we choose or reject. It’s like a river that we block off or we turn into the power that fuels our life. Abraham wasn’t rich or important or strong, but what God counted as substantial in his life was his faith. Faith is only rooted in truth when it's rooted in God. Our recognition that God can be trusted grows our faith. Our commitment to victorious faith sets our compass north. We reflect today on the faith that springs eternal.
To God
O, mountain mover. Hold on to Orion! Walk the surface of the sun! Make a dry path on the ocean floor! Nothing is impossible for you, Lord. You choose the day and the time and Your will be done.
I will not be surprised. My faith was chiseled into me when You founded the earth. I will hold on to Your goodness, Your power, Your love because you have made me a holder-on, a believer-of, a truster-in. I have been gifted superpowers by the Lord Most High. I can see through barriers because You are about to break them. I can travel in time because You took my punishment long ago. I can cross the universe into Your throne room where my prayers are heard. Rags can become as pure as gold.
Lord God, my only fear is that my faith is not my focus. I please You with my faith. I see You move by my faith. My faith is my strength. But...what if I’m distracted? What if I’m weak? Lord, I beg you- knit my faith to my heart. May I never walk without it- it would be a journey in darkness. May I never cast aside my faith. May my words be wrapped in faith.
Make faith my anthem! Faith, I hear, in the morning’s song. Faith, I drink, when I thirst. Faith for breakfast and for dinner. Faith: my soul’s delight. Faith: my chair. Faith: my shoes, my belt. Only faith will do! Lord, without it- save me!
My striving would be losing, surely. My hope is my faith because you planted it there. You would not give me a gift of wind, a handful of rain, or a lump of dust. Make it faith from granite. No fire will burn it, no burden will crush it, no flood will drown it. Make my faith as big as the mountains, O Lord. No quake will shift it. No storms will drench it. Holy. Endless. Solid. Evergreen. Flammable. Faith.

About this Plan
In this 6-day devotional, we spend time in praise and worship of God. Consider the authors of the Psalms- they witnessed God in their lives moving in a significant way, and their response was poetic, heart-filled, worship. What would it look like to recognize God's fingerprints on your life and your purpose?
