Real Hope: Trust

DAY 4 OF 5

RELIABLE TRUTH

At the start of this year, I read through a thriller called Bad Blood by John Carreyrou.

The book chronicles the real-life rise of Silicon Valley startup company Theranos, which developed revolutionary blood-testing equipment said to be a game-changer. Rather than having to draw blood in traditional pathologies, this would see blood tests done from only a few drops from a finger prick. The only problem: the technology didn’t work. Promises were made to investors that simply couldn’t be produced, and dangerously, these machines were rolled out to the public and came back with false readings – putting the health of the public at risk.

I found the read captivating, frustrating and shocking (and highly recommend it!) – but it made me think about truth. What is true, and what is not? Can we trust those around us? We have so much information in our world, and it’s hard to know what is right and what is wrong.

And yet – we have God’s Word to us in His Bible, trustworthy and true. It shows us that God is faithful, that He loves us, and that if we trust in Him, we live with Him. Jesus spilled His blood for us, so that we might live, at no cost to us. In a world of uncertainty, we need to cling to this truth.

He is the one who is infinitely trustworthy, who should be the primary influence in our life, and who is the only one who can help us be the best version of ourselves. As you read through this plan, consider, who do you trust?
