Broken To BlessedНамуна
The Weight of the Wait
Sometimes it feels so heavy; the weight of the wait. The struggle of living day-to-day in a state of uncertainty can leave you feeling broken and exhausted.
We flip the calendar on another month and wonder if this will be the one in which God reveals his plan for us. But the sun sets and rises again in its predictable pattern, the seasons change, but our situation doesn’t.
It’s like being in a sailboat in the middle of the ocean and the wind completely stops. You can’t go forward and you can’t turn back. It is during these times when I believe our faith can be taken to a whole new level of dependency on God. If we doubt God’s presence in the waiting, we may be anchored there forever.
They make blankets now that are purposely weighted to help us relax and reduce anxiety. It could be that the weight is not always bad for us. It could be that the weight of the wait is actually for our benefit.
If God wants me to wait, I will wait; but it doesn’t mean that I like it, or I understand it, or I don’t get frustrated about it. I am not a patient person. I would prefer my prayers to be answered immediately—but God doesn’t always work like that.
I believe this is what God is saying to you today:
“My child, I know. Nothing surprises me and I have heard you. Just know that everything you long for, you already have. You have had it since before I told the ocean it could only come so far and no further. You have had it since before I tossed the stars in the sky, and before the wind blew gently through the leaves of the crooked oak tree. Trust me. I am making all things work together for your good. Wear the waiting like a blanket that eases your worry and your fear. I am all you need. . . the rest will come when the time is perfect.”
Maybe you find yourself in an interim period of waiting. Don’t forfeit the invitation God is offering to abide with him while you are currently stalled in this season of the in-between.
Surrender to the waiting.
Instead of searching for answers, search for Him until the answers come. He longs to satisfy you in the waiting. Wear the blanket of his love and allow him to take away your worry and your fear.
About this Plan
No one enjoys the pain of brokenness. But God doesn't break us to cause undue pain. He breaks us because he loves us. He breaks us to bless us. God chips away at anything in our lives that prevents us from finding our true purpose and love for him. If you are going through a season of brokenness, know that God is working things together for your good.
