Great Adventurers (Week 2) Намуна
Day One - Listen and Follow
Welcome to our Great Adventurers Devotional - we are so excited to have you following along with us as we journey and look at some of the Great Adventurers in the Bible.
This week we are going to be looking at the Great Adventurer, Joshua and how he had to listen to and follow God.
READ:
‘Joshua and the Spies’ in the Beginner's Bible (pages 128-132) or in Joshua 1:1-9.
Joshua had been with Moses as he led the Israelites out of Egypt. When Moses died, Joshua became the leader of the Israelites. God helped Joshua lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, a city called Jericho.
Joshua listened to God and followed everything He told him to do . Even when the Israelites arrived at the city of Jericho, Joshua had to listen to God carefully before he and his people could make a home there.
Maybe when Joshua and his people saw how big the city of Jericho was they wondered if they could do what God had told them to do. But Joshua listened and followed God and he knew that “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”.
Tomorrow we will find out what God told Joshua to do.
ASK:
How well do you listen and follow? Can you think of a game you can play where you have to practice listening and following?
How well do you listen to and follow God? When we spend time with God, in His word, talking to Him, we understand more of what He wants for us. How can you spend some time with God today?
REMEMBER:
‘Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible!”’ (Matthew 19:26)
SAY:
I'm an adventurer. I am bold. I am strong. With the word of the Lord, I will follow. Wherever you lead, I won't stop. I've been set free! Amen!

About this Plan
In the Bible, we see that through ‘Great Adventurers’ God has changed the world around them for good. God can take the seemingly bad things and turn them for good. We will follow in the footsteps of these ‘Great Adventurers’ and see how God, through their boldness, changed the world around them! This week we’re looking at the story of Joshua and our memory verse in Matthew 19:26.
