Gone Fishin'
About a month ago while out walking in an alleyway, I struck up a conversation with a 40-year-old man in a wheelchair . I empathised with Andre who had had one foot amputated and possibly another one soon. I prayed with him. I've been praying for him since then.
Today while handing out tracts for a Good News Club, I asked a man if he knew of somebody named Andre in these apartments.
He said, "I am named Andre."
Totally blind I guess, not noticing that he had a device on one foot and an artificial foot for the other one, and that there was a wheelchair sitting just to my right! I said, "Andre! Do you remember talking with me?" He said, "Yes!" I said, "I've been praying for you. How is your other foot?" He said, "It's much better!"
I was so happy to hear he really wanted his three kids to come to the Good News Club.
"Lord help me to find him again sometime so we can talk about You!"
On the day of the Good News Club, I wore a Joseph outfit with the thing over my head. I went down the street, both sides of the street where I'd gone before, inviting people two weeks earlier. I found Andres's house, and a relative said that he was planning on coming today.
He came with two of his three children and stayed for about half an hour himself. Sixteen children from 5 to 12 were there, and it was a blessed time. I was disappointed to realize I couldn't communicate with Andres because I don't speak Spanish. But it didn't really matter. The Lord spoke through me, just enough.
Could it be more clear?
“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” — Mother Teresa
I am learning to love the people with whom God’s Spirit is prompting me to share His story. I never know what God might already be doing in their lives. The love of Jesus has stirred within me and completely overcome my fears and obstacles to sharing. Praise the Lord!
What an adventure! To God be the glory!
Please say a prayer that Andre's children will reflect their decision to follow Jesus to their Dad.
