A Believer's Response During a Crisis

DAY 1 OF 3

A Prevailing Prayer

We are living in such perilous times. While this pandemic COVID-19 is taking a toll on everything, we have got nowhere else to go, except to our God!

How does one respond to a time such as this?

Here’s what we can learn from Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:

When King Jehoshaphat heard that a vast army came against him, he was shaken but he did not surrender to that crisis in fear. Judah was a powerless army compared to the Moabites and the Ammonites. They did not have the strength to face their enemies. What did Jehoshaphat do?

1. Jehoshaphat sought the Lord

The moment crisis hit, he set his face to seek the Lord. The situation was overwhelming. Jehoshaphat did not count on how many soldiers or weapons he possessed nor called his officials for military strategies. His immediate and first resort was to seek the Lord.

2. Jehoshaphat called for a nationwide prayer and fast

In his previous battle experience, he almost lost his life (1 Kings 22: 29-33). This time, he proclaimed a fast for all of Judah. Oh, what a powerful way to prepare for the battle! Prayer and fasting—what a great combination to battle the crisis. Prayer is an essential part of a believer’s life. We may compromise on other things, but a prevailing prayer is what is required at the time of crisis.

Are you battling a crisis for a long time?

Are you praying for a breakthrough?

Don’t be afraid for God is in control. Say a prayer and ask God for a breakthrough.

Take away:

Prayer moves God’s heart: To see a breakthrough in crisis, seek God first, and seek Him alone!

About this Plan

A Believer's Response During a Crisis

A sudden crisis disrupts everything, it affects our well being and causes tremendous pressure. In this plan, Sam & Mildred, derive lessons from Jehoshaphat and talk about how a believer must respond during a crisis. God was with us, He is with us and He will continue to be with us.
