DAILY SCRIPTURE
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:7-8)
LOVE COMES FROM GOD
Human beings are naturally curious. “How do plants grow?” “What is the meaning of life?” “Where do babies come from?”
But what about love? Where does love come from?
The Bible tells us that love comes from God. It’s his idea. Incredibly, love is not just something God does, it’s who he is. He is love. From all eternity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit have lived in perfect loving communion - a love they invite you into.
God’s love for you is extravagant. It will take all of eternity for you to explore the extent of God’s love for you. So why not start the adventure now? In Ephesians 3, Paul says,
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
(Ephesians 3:17b -19.)
As we continue to pursue Jesus and experience his love, we will see the fruit of God’s love within us result in a greater capacity for us to display his goodness to those he places in our path. So, let’s not be shy in exploring God’s love for ourselves! Let us be constantly filled with his love so that we may display it for all to see.
