Elevation Rhythm: A 7-Day DevotionalНамуна
NEVER WALK AWAY
I know when the fight comes, Imma keep my head up, hey, you won’t let me down, let me down, with me in the middle, middle of my battle, hey, you will never be the one to walk away.
God tells us in Isaiah 43:2, “I will be with you when you pass through the waters; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.”
God doesn’t say, “if” we walk through hard times, He will be there. He says, “when” we find ourselves in a hard place, He will be there. Did you catch that? It’s not if — it’s when.
The hits that usually take us out in a fight are the hits we never see coming. But don’t we always feel so surprised when life doesn’t go as planned? We start to question why and in the process, we totally forget where God is. We forget that He is with us. He is with us when life is gucci and He is with us when we’re fighting to keep it all together.
That’s why we don’t lift our hands and casually sing about if the fight comes. We declare with everything inside of us that when the fight comes, we’ll be ready. We won’t back down because we know Who is on our side. This means we can keep our head up no matter what happens. We know that God is already with us in the middle of the battle and no weapon will be able to take us out.
Next time you sing this song, sing it loud enough for the devil to hear. Our worship is our battle cry. Whether you’re singing this song from the valley or the mountain top, let these words honor God, shake the devil, and remind your heart that, “This isn’t the end of the story. I’ll trust in what You say, told me I’ll be okay. It’s turning around for your glory.”
Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
