Healing Is The Children’s Bread.
“Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” Matthew 15:25-28 KJV
Healing is the Children’s bread. Those who are in Christ belong to the One who heals, restores, and sets free. Matthew 15:25 KJV declares that this Gentile woman asked Jesus to heal her daughter. According to Matthew 15:21 NLT, “Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon.” Jesus was passing through the city when this Gentile woman interrupted His journey. In fact, this woman was of a different nationality — she was not a part of the Children of Israel.
According to Matthew 15:24 KJV, at this point in Jesus’ ministry — Jesus was Called to heal, minister, and feed the lost sheep of the house of Israel. In other words, Jesus was stating that he was healing His Children — the house of Israel. But notice the faith of this woman — in Matthew 15:27 KJV, she declared, “Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.”
Notice, in Matthew 15:27 KJV, she called Jesus, “Lord”. Imagine this, Jesus turned her away after she had asked him to heal her daughter. She wasn’t offended by Jesus’ response or His lack of response. She wasn’t moved by what she had heard. She wasn’t moved by what she saw. She wasn’t moved by what others had said about her. In fact, according to Matthew 15:23 KJV, when she asked Jesus to heal and deliver her daughter — even the disciples told Jesus to send her away, “But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.”
Her faith pushed her past the opinions and obstacles of people. Just because she didn’t get her desired response, the first time she asked, she kept her faith in tact and asked again. Choose to ask again. She did not let her outward circumstance sway her from pursuing God. She had faith in God’s ability to heal and to deliver her daughter.
In fact, she knew that Jesus was the only One who could heal and deliver her daughter. She pursued Christ until she got her answer. In fact, her response revealed the condition of her heart. Matthew 15:27 KJV declares, “And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.” She was humble. This woman knew that whatever fell from the Master’s Table far exceeded what man could perform or provide.
She was not prideful. In fact, the Bible declares that she had great faith, “Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” Matthew 15:28 KJV. She submitted to God. Submit your “ask” to God.
Now that Jesus has died on the cross — whosoever believes on Him have the opportunity to become His Child. Simply accept Jesus Christ and sit at His Table.
