Finding Jesus In TechnologyНамуна
The Holy Spirit is predictive text
It’s a little creepy, but my work email knows what I want to type before I even type it. With predictive typing, I start typing a few words and—all of a sudden—a complete sentence magically appears.
There’s a moment in the Bible when Jesus told His disciples that their words would be supplied for them, just like predictive text. As they were about to go out to share their faith—and would get in trouble for doing so—He said, “Do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” (Luke 12:11,12).
So far, I haven’t been called to testify about my faith in front of people who could throw me in jail (and not many of you have either, I bet), but we’ve all been in situations where we had no idea what to say. Yet, somehow, we spoke God’s words of witness, comfort, hope, kindness, gentle correction, wisdom, and encouragement. That’s the Holy Spirit giving us the words we need when we need them.
The apostle Paul once asked people to pray for him “that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” (Ephesians 6:19). Pray that prayer for yourself, your friends and family, and your fellow believers too. Pray for the right words. Then thank the Holy Spirit as He fills them in for you.
