You Can Trust God By Nina Smit Намуна
God Will Work All Things for Good
Christians can take comfort in the fact that God will make sure all things work for good despite their negative circumstances. Such people act differently to unbelievers when they find themselves in a crisis.
Today’s verses remind us once again that the Lord is absolutely reliable, that He fulfills every one of His promises and that everything in our lives will work out for the best. You can therefore entrust your crisis to Him with great confidence, knowing for sure that He will resolve it. After all, He proved His endless love for you through His death on the cross.
While He was on earth, Jesus went to His Father every time He needed help. The author of the Book of Hebrews gives an emotional description of the earnestness of those intense prayers. They were offered up with loud cries and tears.
The description reminds me of Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane before His crucifixion when He prayed for the cup of suffering to be taken away. Jesus did not attempt to mask how upset He was. He even told the disciples who were with Him that He was “overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death” (Mrk. 14:34, NIV), and asked them to keep watch with Him.
God does not answer His Son’s urgent plea, as Jesus still had to be crucified on the cross so that we could be saved. Yet God had heard Jesus’ prayers, even if He did not grant Him His request. We read that the dread Jesus experienced at the thought of His coming death was taken away after He went to pray for the third time and an angel strengthened Him.
Prayer
Lord, so many things happen to me that are beyond my control. Thank You for the certainty that all these things will work together for good because You love me, even if it seems impossible right now. Amen.
