Dreamville: What Is Your God Dream? Намуна
JOSEPH HAD GREAT FAITH
I once told my wife, weeks away from her 23rd birthday, that I was going to buy her a puppy, our first pet together as a married couple. It was this cute pug x pomeranian. I’m not the biggest animal guy, but this pup was cuter than Cutie McCuteson from Cutesville. To make it even better, he was a clearance puppy and his price was reduced massively as the owners wanted him gone ASAP. She was excited. I was excited. The day before I was going to pick him up, I received a text saying he’d been sold. My plan to make my wife’s birthday was ruined. And then I had to break the news to her...this was not the way I thought her birthday surprise was going to pan out.
Joseph received his God dream at 17 years old. Nearly a decade later he had endured slavery and imprisonment. You’d imagine he wouldn’t have pictured his life to turn out this way. Sitting in his prison cell, I can almost guarantee Joseph would have thought things like “How long will this last? Will I ever be set free? Will I ever see my family again?”
Have you ever felt like this? Sometimes life can take all sorts of turns, and we feel far from where we hoped we’d be. Maybe you have just recently received your God dream and you cannot even begin to see how it could possibly ever come to pass. Hard situations can seem like they are dragging on endlessly, and it can be difficult to see a way out.
This is where faith comes in. Joseph had the faith to believe in the goodness of God.
Oswald Chambers says that “faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.”
Just after Joseph was thrown into prison, he didn't give up on his faith. The Bible says that God was with him and that He granted Joseph favour in the eyes of the prison warden. The warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and he was made responsible for all prison-related activities. When we have real faith in God, we can be at peace knowing our dreams are in His mighty hands. No matter what we go through, we have faith that He is far greater than my situation and that He knows the plans he has for me.
“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
If you are facing something difficult and your dream seems far out of reach, remember Joseph, because even though he was in the midst of a dark time, he never lost his kindness, his humility, his endurance, and he certainly didn’t lose his faith. Let your faith be bigger than your fear.
About this Plan
Do you feel like God has given you a dream for your life? God gave Joseph a dream about his future. So why did God entrust Joseph, a young shepherd boy from Canaan, with such an important dream? Throughout this plan, we want to unlock the big God dreams of your life by looking at how Joseph responded to the call of God.
