Love God Greatly: RisenНамуна
On His final night with His disciples, Jesus shared the Passover meal and celebrated with His closest friends. Jesus encouraged and prepared His disciples for what was about to happen. As we look back on His words, we can see how Jesus explained the resurrection to the disciples the night before He died.
Jesus promised His disciples that the Holy Spirit would be with them. Even though Jesus Himself would no longer be on earth, He would send the Holy Spirit to comfort them and be with them. Jesus promised to not abandon His disciples; by sending the Holy Spirit He was always with them (and us!).
After His resurrection, the world would no longer see Jesus, but His disciples would. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all believers in Christ is how we see Him. Jesus left His disciples that night with hope, even though they did not fully understand. And when He ascended into heaven, He again left them with hope: hope that He would one day return and that we will all live with Him in eternity.
Lord Jesus, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be our advocate. Thank You for not leaving us as orphans, but for coming to us and for giving us the Holy Spirit. Amen.
