Getting To Know The Real YouНамуна
Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good; He came to bring dead people to life.
Without Jesus, we are cut off from God and unable to obey Him. The Bible calls this being dead in our sin. And when God is dead to us, we need more than a pep talk or a Bible lesson. We need a resurrection.
Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for all of our sin (Romans 6:23). He took the punishment we deserved and made a way for us to have a relationship with God. By asking Jesus to take control of our lives, we are letting go of who we used to be and receiving a new identity.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you,” God says through Ezekiel. “I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).
Every wrong thing we have ever done or will do doesn’t decide who we are. We are not what we have done or what we struggle with. We are who God says we are. We are His kids through our faith in Jesus (Galatians 3:26).
The day you asked Jesus into your life, you went from death to life. You are no longer dead in your sin; you are alive in Christ!
Reflect:
- Do you allow anything to shape your identity other than God? If so, what?
- Where were you when you went from death to life? Take a few minutes to thank God for what He’s done in you.
About this Plan
With so many different people telling us who we are, or who we should be, how do we know who’s right? We think the One who made us should get to define us. Read this plan to discover who God says you are and find your identity in Him.
