Sing Wherever I Go
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” (Psalm 89:1).
I remember a dark moment in my life several years ago when I was feeling overwhelmed and depressed. I sensed the Holy Spirit urge me to pick up my guitar and worship. It was the last thing I wanted to do, but I knew it was what I needed. As I started singing there alone in my room, everything changed. The darkness lifted and I was transported from the valley to the throne room of God. Psalm 100:4 says that we enter His gates with thanks and enter His courts with praise. There are two doorways that lead us directly into the presence of our Father: thankfulness and praise! It’s not just a suggestion, it’s a principal. Both of these practices are a mind battle for a perspective shift. Thankfulness speaks to Gods goodness. It requires me to acknowledge that I am not in control and reminds me that the many gifts I have were given to me. Praise is verbal affirmation that, despite my circumstances, I choose joy.
Now, in my day-to-day walk with Jesus, I choose to sing wherever I go, no matter what I am going through. I love the chorus of this song because it’s filled with both thanksgiving and praise! “All my life all I know, God’s been good, good to my soul. Mountain high or valley low, I’m gonna sing wherever I go.”
