Feast of Tabernacles Part 1 // Remembering What God Has Done For Us
The Feast of the Tabernacles is the last of the seven feasts of the Jewish calendar. It was a joyous occasion, on which the Israelites would bring offerings to the Lord and celebrate God’s provision. In particular, they would celebrate God’s provision for them over the last year and for providing for them in the wilderness for 40 years after they escaped from Egypt. In fact, each family was to construct a temporary shelter (or booth) and live in it for a week to remember the journey out of Egypt.
As part of this festival, the people would rejoice for a whole week, celebrating all that God had done for them. What has God done for you over the last year? What things in our lives should we be thankful for? During this time of prayer and feasting, let us take the time to give thanks and celebrate all that God has done for us.
Prayer:
For today’s prayer, take some time with God and, in your own words, begin to thank Him for all the things He has done and is going to do for you this year.
