All I NeedНамуна
All we need
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2:6,7).
If there was ever a sentence that I would tape to my bathroom mirror, I think it would be this one. In just one sentence, the apostle Paul offers all the encouragement we could ever need to live out our lives as believers—and sometimes we can use that encouragement. Life happens. We get busy. We get distracted, and sometimes we lose focus on what matters.
The believers in the city of Colossae, whom Paul was writing to, were forgetting what mattered most. They were getting distracted and some were even being convinced that Christ alone was not enough for their salvation. Pretty scary. To combat this idea, Paul wrote an entire letter seeking to convince them that Christ is truly all they needed in life.
These verses are in the middle of that letter. For the next five days, I want you to walk with me as we look at all the encouragement that the apostle Paul packs into this one sentence.
It starts with this simple phrase that grounds us in our faith when the world seeks to distract us: “You received Christ Jesus as Lord.” A simple fact: We have Jesus, and he is all we need.
