Fearless

DAY 4 OF 4

I will look to you. Keeper of my soul, you’re in control. When the ground is shaking, I won’t lose heart. You’re in control. (ICF Worship – You’re in Control)

When everything seems to be falling apart – God is there. When the waves are crushing in on you and it seems like you’re drowning – God is there. When accusing voices inside you repeatedly try to convince you that you’re not good enough, that you won’t make it – God is there. When you’re standing amidst the battle field and the opponent seems so much stronger than you – even then: God is there.

God sees you in your valley and He is in control. No matter what a situation may look like. He is the keeper of your soul and your heart. He holds you tight when the ground under your feet is shaking. Your world may fall but you won’t!

Time and time again God has proven himself faithful and there is no reason to believe that He will walk away from you right now. Don’t be afraid and don’t lose heart. In John 14:1 Jesus says to his disciples: “Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me!” Here Jesus refers to his coming death – how could it get any worse in these hopeless and utterly inevitable circumstances? Quite a desolate valley. He knew that the world of his disciples would be falling apart after he had died on the cross, yet he comforts them and tells them to stand strong through this. He does the same with us.

He is telling you today not to give up. He wants you to come sit with him and trade your burden for his rest (Mt 11,28). And he reassures you that “even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. (...)” (2 Cor 4,16f). God is in control!
