God Does Not Tempt ManНамуна
The Wilderness.
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.” Matthew 4:1 KJV
James 1:14-15 NLT declares, “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.” Temptation comes from your own lustful desires. Choose to crush lust with the Word of God.
What’s in your heart? Choose to let Christ crush the sin of your past. Repent and surrender to Christ. Be not entangled in the bondage of sin. Don’t let the wilderness keep you in bondage. Turn to Christ.
Matthew 4:3 KJV declares, “And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” Notice the Bible declares that Satan is the tempter. There was a distinction in the wilderness between who was the tempter and who was being tempted — Christ was not the tempter. Christ is our Deliverer. Christ is our Redeemer. Christ could not be tempted, or be enticed by sin, because no sin was found in Him — Christ knew no sin.
1 John 3:5 KJV declares, “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.” Christ could not be ruled by sin because no sin was found in Him. In fact, Matthew 4:1 KJV declares, “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.”
Christ was led by the Holy Spirit — Christ was not led into temptation. Christ was led into the wilderness in order to overcome and to conquer the wilderness for our sakes.
Christ is our example. He led a sinless life and showed us how to overcome the wilderness and the temptation of the world. The wilderness does not have to rule you. The wilderness does not have to overtake you. Choose to focus on God. Choose to focus on His Word. Meditate on His Word day and night. Don’t let the wilderness lead you astray.
In fact, God created you to conquer the wilderness. God created you to worship Him and not the wilderness. Don’t get stuck in the wilderness by magnifying your problem. Don’t focus on the problem — focus on Christ.
About this Plan
Vance K. Jackson leads readers in this powerful devotional. God cannot be tempted with evil — neither does God tempt man. Let no man say when he is tempted that He’s tempted of God. Temptation does not come from God. God does not entice you to sin. Satan lures. The enemy entices. Satan wants to draw you away from communing and connecting with Christ. Surrender to Christ.
