Wonders of His Love: An Advent Devotional Inspired by Christmas CarolsНамуна
O Come, O Come Emmanuel
"O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer. Our spirits by Thine advent here..."
In our family, we have a group chat, and in the summer, if you read our messages, you'd often find, "SUNSET ALERT!" The colors in the sky, the glowing clouds. There is something beautiful about the rising and setting of the sun. The appearance of light in a sunrise symbolizes a brand-new day. A fresh start.
In the Bible, we read about the magnificent rising of the sun. After Zacharias' son John was born, Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit. We can read his prophesy about the coming of Jesus and the time for redemption in Luke Chapter 1.
We read in verses 78-79 (NKJV), "Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."
When Jesus was born, light from Heaven came to visit us on Earth. What a wonderful thing to rejoice over!
Light breaking through the dawn brings a restored hope to our weary souls. It signifies a fresh start. A new day. When Jesus came to Earth, He brought with him radiant light.
God is with us!
Even though Jesus no longer resides on Earth, He still wants to bring light and peace to your life. Just like the sun rises every morning, God gives us new mercies each day. Even when we are faithless, God remains faithful.
Sit in a quiet, sunny place today and let this hope overwhelm your heart. Jesus came for you. To cleanse you. To make you a new creation. You are washed clean because of the cross.
Soak in the rays of sunshine coming from Heaven, bringing light and peace. Then go and shine your light.
How can you shine your light for Jesus today?
