The Proverbs 32 Woman: A 5-Day Devotional PlanНамуна
Is there a Power Outage in Heaven?
Do you ever find yourself praying: “Oh God, please heal my neck and back and headache? Especially my neck, that’s the worst. If You can only heal one thing, would You…”
Or: “Dear Lord, sorry to bother You, but I just have this favor to ask…”
Are we praying like there is going to be a power outage in heaven if we ask for too much? Do we think God is too busy? When Jesus healed the lepers, did He heal most of their body but leave one arm all messed up? No!
Where did we come up with the idea that we need to give God a list and prioritize it? God wants to hear all of our prayers. The Bible says, “You do not have because you do not ask God” (James 4:2).
I know our list of needs can seem long and overwhelming. When I can’t muster the words to explain my sorrows and hurts, I can still call out to Him and He knows my heart and exactly what I need.
Prayer is not like going before a king or a judge solely to grant our petitions. Prayer is meant to deepen a real relationship with a God who created us, put us on this planet, and knew exactly what we were facing every single day. And the best part? He also knows exactly how we are going to overcome each obstacle and how He is going to help us. He’s a loving Father and longs for us to see Him that way.
My children have no problem asking me for everything at once. They know Mom can handle it. But can you imagine how much more our heavenly Father can do to comfort us, guide us, and even heal us when the needs arise?
What about praying about our hopes and dreams? Do we have the courage to include God in something so big we haven’t even told anyone about it? I hope so, because I think God wants to be included in every part of our journey.
Dear God,
Forgive me for my tiny faith. Forgive me for not trusting that You can handle all of my problems, hopes, and desires at once. You are an all-knowing, all-loving God. Help me stretch my faith and continue to see You working out every detail in my life. There is no prayer too big or too small for You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
