How The Shepherd Rescued The Sheep

DAY 7 OF 7

Jesus Came from Heaven to Save Me

This is the Gospel message—the Good News about Jesus! If you trust that Jesus died and rose again to rescue YOU and bring you back to God, you will be saved. That is what Easter is all about. Easter is the celebration of how Jesus paid the price to rescue you. When you accept the Shepherd’s love, there is a great celebration in heaven too!

Jesus said, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!” Luke 15:4-7

Jesus carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. Because of His wounds, we are healed. Because of His death, we can live.

When you receive the love of the Good Shepherd, Jesus, you will want to love Him back. You will want to listen to His Word in the Bible and do what He says. Jesus will come and make His home within you. When you accept the Shepherd’s love, God gives the wonderful gift of His Holy Spirit, His very own presence to live in your heart.

Jesus told His followers that He was going to make a place in heaven. Heaven is for anyone who receives His gift of salvation. Jesus promised that one day He would return. Until then, He promised us, His followers, that we would not be alone. Jesus sent us a special Helper, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is within us. He helps us know how to live for God.

Dear God,

Thank you for being a loving Shepherd. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sin and that He rose again. Please come into my life today. Make your home with me. I want to have a relationship with you because of Your Great Love for me. Amen.
