The God Who Sees You
We all have a natural need to be loved and valued. This innermost need must be met by God alone. He is the only One who can truly satisfy this longing. Then, and only then, when human relationships fail or people betray us, our value as a person is not damaged or destroyed. When we place our value in God, we will not be shaken.
How many times have we tried to fill our souls by drinking “water” from human sources and relationships that cannot satisfy us? That void remains.
Jesus saw the Samaritan woman at the well that day. He truly saw her. He understood her deepest need to be loved and valued. Jesus also saw Jackie suffering through heartbreaking betrayal by men in her life. He saw their tears when others overlooked them or mistreated them, and He loved them.
What well are you drinking from that is not satisfying you? Are you struggling over past rejections, past sins and failures, buried by a heavy weight of shame? Perhaps you have not relied on relationships for your value but on achievements, titles or possessions.
Your most profound need to be truly known, loved and valued can only be met through a relationship with Jesus. Only He can offer a life free from guilt and shame. He alone has the power to forgive your sins and mend your soul. He loves you and values you. He longs to fulfill the needs of your life.
He sees you, and . . . He adores you.
Let’s consider how God sees our deepest needs:
· Only God can meet our deepest need to be loved and valued.
· God looks beyond our sins and failures to the person He created us to be.
· God can use our story to bring salvation, encouragement and freedom to others.
· As Christians, God calls us to walk in freedom, not bound by guilt and shame.
