Take A Mission Trip To Your WorkplaceНамуна
Ever been on a short-term missions trip, or considered going on one?
Most likely, your church organizes some form of short-term missions trip in the summer – to help on a building project, teach children, or give English-as-second-language lessons.
They are usually fun events, going with others from your church, and then coming back feeling so blessed to live where you do.
A great way to see God’s goodness in your life.
But… unless you’re on a purpose-oriented trip matching your skills or talents, it can be a bit like doing minor repairs for a shut-in or helping at a daycare.
Likely, that’s not quite your calling in life.
God has equipped and gifted you with skills and talents to be gainfully employed at work. Most likely, your job is with a secular company, with many who need to hear the good news.
God has even brought you to a workplace where no missionary or pastor is even allowed!
It’s a rich mission field!
And, it’s one that you are paid to go to every day!!
In this reading plan, we’re going to join together to go on a “MISSION TRIP” to your workplace or business – in a way that is acceptable to your company and a blessing to your co-workers.
Let’s start by checking in with the Bible….
Ephesians 2:10 says that each of us are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Galatians 6:9-10 adds that we should “do good to all people.”
These are instructions from God’s word that apply to our daily life –wherever we find ourselves: not just at church, in small group or on a short-term missions trip but also at work!
We’ll start by spending the first days to prepare, and then – once we’re ready – we’ll go step-by-step, day-by-day to complete the 5-day MISSION TRIP at your workplace or business.
No worries about the details, this study plan will walk you through every detail of the trip – you just need to be ready to pray and willing to serve.
One practical request as we get started – a pre-requisite, if you will…
You will need a prayer partner or two to join with you on this trip. They don’t need to be at your work, so it can be anybody from your family, small group, church or other Christian friend.
Find that person and have them follow this YouVersion study plan with you. Keep in touch with them – text message, email, phone call or face-to-face – as you progress through the plan so that they might pray for your specific needs and encourage you along the way.
Find your prayer partner and let’s get started!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the work that you have given me. I pray that you would bless this MISSION TRIP that I am about to take – bless it so that it may glorify you and bring me in closer relationship to those I work with and you also. Amen.
ACTIONS
Find a prayer partner to pray for you each day of your MISSION TRIP. Ask them to join you in following this study plan.
Optionally, do you know someone else that might want to join you in doing a MISSION TRIP at their work? It might be fun to do it together, even if you work at different places.
