14 Days Renewing Your MindНамуна
MY SINS ARE FORGIVEN
I know this is a weird verse to put into a Renewing your Mind series but today some people need to remind themselves that they are forgiven and cleansed. Satan tries to keep reminding us of our past mistakes, our past sins and intimidating us that they are not forgiven. We then step back, become weak or even retreat from God in shame. So today, this scripture that you are going to meditate on is going to change all of that. It states “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’. Two things I want you to notice in this verse – our responsibility and Jesus faithfulness. Our responsibility is to confess our sins, bring them into the light, not to be exposed but to be extinguished. Sins hate the light - they grow in darkness. So, as you bring them into the light, God can set you free. But wait, there is more! I love the next bit, it says ‘he is faithful and just’. It’s not because we were faithful to come to Him that sets us free, it’s because when we do come to Him, He is faithful and just, and he can’t help but to forgive and cleanse. It’s not just stopping sinning that cleanses you, it’s bringing it to Jesus, getting forgiveness and receiving a full cleansing from Him. It’s in His strength and the power of the Holy Spirit, not in your own strength. And this one is a continuous cycle because we all sin. When we do, we do the cycle again: confess, he forgives and cleanses us. It’s a wash, rinse repeat cycle that never fails! So, today remind yourself that because He is faithful your sins are forgiven and cleansed! You are no longer that person. That sin no longer has a hold of you. That sin has been brought to the light and is done! You stand today forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness - holy in his sight!
