Everyone. Everywhere. Part 2

DAY 5 OF 16

Unlikely Characters

Even though God does not need to, He chooses us to accomplish His will on earth. This is seen throughout human history when God chooses the most unlikely characters—Abraham, Moses, David, Mary, and countless others—to accomplish some of His greatest missions.

Abraham was an idol worshipper before God chose him to father the nation of Israel and be a blessing to all nations. Moses led Israel out of Egypt when they were held in captivity, even though he asked God not to use him because of his speaking ability. David, the King of Israel, sinned against one of his most loyal soldiers and had him murdered. Mary was a young woman who was on track to live an incredibly common and quiet life.

God chose an idol worshiper, a bad communicator, a murderer, and a young mother to carry out His plan of redemption. The Lord chooses the unlikely and uses them for His glory. How amazing and life-giving is that?!  God now chooses you. No matter how weak, sinful, or unqualified you think you are, He has chosen you to bring glory and honor to His name. The mission God gives you is to make disciples who seek to help others find and follow Jesus. He has placed you where the harvest is plentiful.

Questions to Ask Yourself:

  1. Do you truly believe you are in the middle of God’s story and that He has grand plans of using you for His mission?
  2. What do you enjoy doing that you could invite someone into to build a trusting relationship?

What’s Next:

  1. Spend some time submitting your will to God in prayer and asking Him to replace doubts with trust.
  2. Invite someone you play, work, or live with into something you are already a part of and/or love doing. Here are some examples: Grocery shopping, playing sports, or bringing them to church.

Prayer: God Almighty, you have showed me who you are, and because of that I praise you. I thank you for choosing to use me to impact people's lives for your glory. I wish to be a part of someone’s experience in coming to find and follow you. I pray that you would replace any doubts with trust and confidence in your ability to use me in wondrous ways for your will. God show me how I can use every day actions to invite people into your kingdom. I praise you, I thank you, and I trust in you. Amen.
