Hospital Bed PrayersНамуна
A Prayer for Peace
Spending any length of time at the hospital is draining-- more than anything, it is the waiting that pulls out the obsessive in me. I madly scour old college textbooks and online medical journals and Google for information that might predict the future like a crystal ball.
But nothing can tell me what happens next.
And so I pour out as I sit here, holding her hand. I pour out until every last drop of me is gone, and then worry starts to seep in, to fill every crevice of my tired, empty body.
But as worry fills me up, it leaves me dry and thirsty.
So, I go before my Father God. Drop by drop, I spill my worry at His feet.
He cares, so he listens. And gracefully, mercifully, he fills me up and over with peace.
It is peace I should not have in this place-- the sort of peace that strengthens my heart as I look to tomorrow and shields my mind against anxious, fearful thoughts.
Again and again, every day, I go to God. I tell Him my worries and I ask for His peace. And this I know about my God: He is faithful.

About this Plan
It’s hard to know how to pray when someone dear is hurt or sick. When you don’t know whether to cry or be brave, the words get caught. But, whether we are eloquent or stuttering, He listens. In this 3-day plan, pray along with a mother who has spent significant time at the side of her little one’s hospital bed. Pray for healing, but also for peace and perseverance as God takes you through the difficult journey of caring for your loved one.
