Overcoming The Monster Of GriefНамуна
Dealing with Loss
Until Jesus came, Satan used the threat of death. We all lived in fear of it. But because of the resurrection, all Satan has left are the lies he can tell about death. We grieve the loss of a loved one, and that’s a healthy thing to do. But you can handle the grief when you know you can live through it, and that you’ll be reunited in heaven with your loved ones. So even in death, we win, and Satan loses.
Jesus grieved for His friend Lazarus! Tears don’t represent a lack of faith; they just mean you’re human. The One who gave you the ability to love understands sorrow and loss- that’s why He gave you tears. Whether your loss is caused by death, suicide, the ending of a relationship, divorce, or deep disappointment, God wants to mourn with you and heal your wounds.
It’s essential to forgive yourself, forgive those who hurt you, and take your time in the grieving process. Recovering fully will take time, so please be patient with yourself. Chances are, you’ll go through several of the recognized stages of grief, including denial, anger, bargaining, and depression. So, what can you do?
Learn to discipline your thoughts. Set new goals for your life. Focus on helping someone else. God will restore you, so keep trusting Him and don’t lose heart. Acknowledge the hurt, talk to God about it, and turn your situation over to Him.
God never forces healing on you, even when you’re hurting. You must want to get well, and make a conscious decision that, by God’s grace, you can.
