Read To Me Daily Semester 3Намуна
JEREMIAH 48:
In yesterday’s reading in Jeremiah, the Lord began giving oracles about different nations, with one chapter concerning Egypt and the next one about Philistia. Today we’ll hear God’s plans for Moab.
PROVERBS 9:
Today’s poetry reading is the last of the thematic chapters at the beginning of the book of Proverbs. Lady Wisdom speaks, and we find that she is opposed by Lady [Folly/Stupidity].
1JOHN 2:
In today’s reading in 1st John, John continues to address us as his dear children, and tells us things that we must know in order to be on guard and remain in fellowship with the Father and the Son.
Let’s pray.
Dear heavenly Father, we praise You that you have made your heavenly wisdom available to us. You have made it so easy for everyone to find. Your Word and all its treasures are far more valuable than gold and gems. Nothing can compare with your Word, because it gives us eternal life. Lord Jesus, we sense John’s excitement in sharing about You as the Word of Life. Knowing You is a blessing too great to be kept to oneself. He wanted my listener and me and everyone to join in the fellowship with You and the Father— not just meeting You and shaking hands. We will enjoy fellowship and friendship, so that we ALL— including You and the Father and the apostles, could have complete joy. We immediately shrink back and say, “But how could I have this joy of fellowship with God and the apostles? I am unworthy. I am sinful.” So thank You that You— Lord Jesus— purify us by the blood of your sacrifice on the cross. Give us so much joy at our fellowship with You that it will dispel the darkness from our hearts and help us to stumble into sin less and less often. By your Spirit’s power, help us that we will not deceive ourselves about our spiritual condition, so that we will be quick to confess our sins, and quickly come back into full fellowship with You. We ask for You to help us hold on to the truth about ourselves and the promises we find in this book, so that we will have all the certainty of our salvation that You want us to have.
