Jesus Revealed Pt. 12 - This Is Why I Came...Намуна
Greeks seek Jesus
Thoughts on the Passage
Greeks seek Jesus.
These Greeks were here for Passover – they were likely people who had converted to Judaism and were there to celebrate the Passover with the rest of the people. However, they likely had heard very little about Jesus except what they had heard when they came. They want to know more about Him and so they find Philip… and then Andrew…. These two have a habit of bringing people to Jesus!
I am amazed that we hear nothing about whether Jesus met with these people. We do not know if He took time with them or expected Andrew and Philip to address their questions. Instead Jesus sees the presence and questions of these Greeks as a tipping point – a time that signifies that His hour to die has come. The nations are ready to hear and the disciples are able to point them to Jesus.
Also, Jesus talks about sacrifice. The cost of following Jesus means a willingness to follow Him in sacrifice. It requires that we let things of this world take second place as we follow Him. It means that we are building an eternal future and reward at the expense of a comfortable life here.
It is worth it.
Application
If Jesus took a look at our lives, would He see people who recognize people looking for Jesus? Would He see people able to direct them to Jesus? Would He find people willing to sacrifice what this world puts forward as important to focus on what eternity says is important?
Take time today to let God evaluate us.
Time to Pray
Father, as I look at Andrew and Philip, I see men who have a heart for bringing people to Jesus. I see it happen at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry and I see it now at the end. I know how hard it is to make that my priority every day. I know that training helps me feel more confident, but it is a heart attitude that I must have. So Father, strengthen my heart to see needy people and hurting people and give me a passion to see them look – and find – Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
We all know that we have a purpose in life. Sometimes it’s clear as day – other times, not so much. Finding our purpose in life is a journey as we all have different ways in which we have been gifted to serve God and others. In Part 12 we see Jesus preparing to carry out one of His main reasons for coming to earth – to set mankind free!
