Unconditional Mercy
Rajo’s clubbed foot limited his movement and mobility. He clung on to his daddy’s arms while nurse Jenica greeted him. Then Rajo gave a little wave, and Jenica knew he wasn’t that shy.
As the two played hide and seek, Rajo ran to Jenica with his arms lifted high, waiting to be picked up.
Jenica said afterwards, “I just wanted little Rajo to feel the unconditional love that I had for him, this ship has for him, and people all over the world have for him and God has for him.”
That’s what mercy is all about … unconditional love. In today’s passage we read that ‘love comes from God’ (verse 7). As we experience God’s unconditional, limitless love, verse 11 adds, ‘since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.’
We love, because God first loved us! There’s a virtuous circle here – we receive God’s love and just like Jenica, we love others. It is love multiplied, love squared, and it keeps growing and keeps going – from person to person. As you see others showing love today, remember the source of all love is God, and His love can fuel your own love and acts of service today.
Call to action – Does this passage read as a challenge and a hard command to follow? In other words, ‘you WILL love others!’ Help God to show you more of his love, so this passage begins to reassure you – that it’s God’s love that will sustain and fuel your love and service. It should be a relief to realise that your love for others will never run out, because God is the supplier and source of love!

About this Plan
God has shown us what He requires (Micah 6:8) - to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with Him. In this seven day plan, we go deeper into His mercy with real testimonies from Mercy Ships, questions to help us apply God's word, and passages which draw us into His ways. We start with His great love and mercy for us, and only then do we look outward.
