Unstoppable by Christine CaineНамуна
Annie had always known she wanted to change the world and she’s always had a bold willingness to move God’s work forward in the earth. She has spent her life grabbing batons and passing them off faithfully. Even when she joined the A21 team, she moved through multiple positions. First, she worked in the Australian A21 office for seven years building a team there, and then she moved to California to help launch another A21 office. Even then, she knew she was called to move to Greece, and work in another A21 office there. In Australia, the United States and Greece, Annie was always building into the next generation.
Like Annie, you will be called to hand off your baton to others, because you are not only called to run, to reach out to grasp and carry, you are also called to release the baton to others. You are running an interdependent relay race, not an independent sprint. God’s design for the relay, the body of Christ at work, is as brilliant as it is essential for living a vibrant and fruitful Christian life.
And remember, every baton God that gives us, no matter what it might be, puts into practice the priorities of God. The Great Commandment to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love others as ourselves, is fulfilled when we love others well, encouraging and building them up as we hand off batons to them. The Great Commission is fulfilled when we go and make disciples, helping people grow in their faith.
Faith moves from one generation to another, and if you do your part, then the person who takes the baton from you will be able to take it farther than you ever could. If you truly believe that what God has next for you is better than where you are now and that what he has for the next person is better for them, then you will be eager for the next person to excel. This is so important, because faith is always one generation from extinction, and we are entrusted to carry the baton from one generation to the next to keep it alive.
Who has God put in your life to hand off a baton?
