DAY 17 OF 18

Word of the Day: Still

Definition: (Adverb) –Up to and including the present or the time mentioned; even now (or then) as formerly; nevertheless, all the same (Google, 2016).

The adverb definition was selected to emphasize the importance of what it means to still be. Despite all that happens, we all have the capability to still be. We see it every day. It’s amazing how determined single parents push forward to provide a better life for their children despite many days of opposition from multiple angles.  Furthermore, facing the tribulations set out to take us down and knock us off track, yet we do not lose hope in God. It takes great faith to hold on. It takes strength to hold on. It takes commitment to hold on. Now flip that on the other side: it could be very possible to still not have faith in situations, to not have strength or hope. We must remember to examine our actions and feelings. Do they align with what "thus saith the Lord"? Do they align with the Word of God? How about when we don’t get what we think we deserve? Will we still trust Him because He knows what is best for us? Even now, regardless of any circumstance, our trust should still be deeply rooted in God to know that He has everything under control.

Action: The next time you are facing a situation that seems to knock the wind out of your chest, take a deep breath and say, “I still trust God and I will still stand on His word”. Quote and reflect on Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You for the many lessons that You show me through Your word and in my situations. I ask that You forgive me for the sins that I commit daily and I thank You for Your grace and mercy. As I mature in my walk with You, please help me to decide how I choose to utilize this action word: still. Amen.

Affirmation: I still trust God and I will stand on His word.
