Walking With John

DAY 2 OF 29

Jesus is the Light of the World

By: Rachel Jones

Jesus is light, and He is full of grace and truth. He came for each and every one of us and He did it gladly. I would love to share with you the happy song from The Jesus Storybook Bible

"Because God loves us with a never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love—Heaven is breaking through! He is sending us a Light from Heaven to shine on us like the sun, to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

Wow! That is our Jesus. Because of God’s unrelenting love for His people, He sent Jesus to be in the flesh and make His dwelling among us (John 1:14). Jesus became the bridge for us to get to the Father!

I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and the incomparable priceless gift of forgiveness He gave me by grace, through faith in His atoning blood. His sacrifice brings hope for redemption to those who repent and believe.

As Easter approaches, how are we going to teach our children this most significant truth? God has given our children to us for a time, and it is our duty and privilege to impart to them the importance of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

I am so excited to share with you mamas some amazing ideas I have found for having a Christ-centered Easter in our homes.

Easter Jelly Bean Prayer Envelopes

This is a cute, tangible reminder of why we celebrate Easter. My girls love making these and giving them out as gifts to our family, friends, and neighbors

Passover-Inspired Easter Dinner

How about changing your traditional Easter brunch/dinner to a Passover or Last Supper-inspired meal? Even though Jesus ate this meal with His disciples the night before His death, making it on Easter Sunday is a great tradition and a very special way to honor Him. Your kids will not forget this extraordinary night!

Christ-Centered Easter-Egg Hunt

I love this idea so much! Easter egg hunts are such a fun part of the holiday when you have young kids at home, but why does every single egg have to be filled with only candy?! Adding some Scripture on small pieces of paper along with the candy points the day back to Jesus. While your kids are enjoying one of their pieces of chocolate, you or your husband can read aloud some of the most important verses from the Bible about Jesus’ amazing sacrifice.

Science Experiment: Jesus Washes our Sins Away

I love science, so this idea caught my eye immediately! Young children who enjoy hands-on projects will really enjoy this. This object lesson will also help your kids better understand what Jesus did and still does for all of us

A Sense of the Resurrection Book

At The Help Club for Moms, we have loved the book, Truth in the Tinsel for a few years. This priceless book guides parents in sharing the miracle of Christmas with their children. And did you all know that the same author has an Easter counterpart?! A Sense of the Resurrection contains 12 activities for families to put themselves right where Jesus was when He laid down His life for us.

Questions to Ponder

-How can you keep the focus on Jesus, our Messiah this Easter? Is there anything in your Easter celebration detracting from the holiday? Maybe it is a family tradition or a new activity that doesn’t glorify the Lord or is simply a waste of time. This may seem harsh, but it is always a good idea to re-evaluate how you are doing things as a mother. I have had to look closely at our holiday traditions over the years. Every time I have remained true to the Lord, my family has had a special time of blessing.

-How can you make this Easter more memorable for your children? What one thing would you want your children to remember the most about Easter? How are you setting an example in this area?
