The Untamable Word of God
“For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4: 12)
The Word of God is God. Gaze at the complexity of the universe, the endless sky, the vast oceans, the green hills and the creatures on the earth. Genesis 1 tells us that God created all of these through the agency of His Words. In John 1:1 and in Colossians 1:16, Jesus is revealed as the Word through which every form of life came to be.
“For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him.”
His Word is everlasting (1 Peter 1:25), His Word is the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6: 17), His Word is unstoppable (Hebrews 4: 12). Limiting the Word of God is to limit God Himself, and just as we cannot exhaust God, we cannot exhaust His Word because it is Spirit and Life (John 10: 35). The Word of God is beyond mere letters on the pages of the Bible. As we read the Word, it becomes revelation of the clear foundation on which our lives are built in transforming faith and holiness.
Food for thought:
When a Christian is malnourished in the Word, the maltreatment by the world can overtake him. Remember, the Word of God is God, and a Christian devoid of the Word will easily fall prey to the oppressive manipulations of the devil.
Action Point: Today is yet another opportunity to know the Word of God by diligently studying it. Earnestly pray for revelation and the transformation that comes with it.
Prayer Point: Father, open my eyes to understand the divinity of Your Word until my life is built up to reflect Your glory. Amen.
