When God Says No

DAY 3 OF 5

God’s no will save you time.

Most people think that I am a patient person. If you ask my wife, you’ll discover quite the opposite is true. I just hide it better than most!

In geometry, we learn that the shortest distance between any two points is a straight line. In our journeys, those two points are where we are now (frustrated, working in circles, not using our gifts) and where we want to be (fulfilling our calling, financially free, joyful).

But life is not geometry. The shortest distance between where you are and where you want to be is never going to be a straight line.

In life, the shortest distance between here and there is through God’s noes.

You see, those of us who hear God say no are brave enough to do something in the first place! The ones who always hear yes are either asking too small or too rarely. It’s the ones who hear no, the ones who need to be redirected and rerouted that end up accomplishing great things for God.

Abraham, Moses, Esther, David, Joseph, Jesus – all of these heroes heard no on their journeys. So take heart; if you’ve been told no by God you’re closer to your calling than you think.
