Promises On The Journey

DAY 1 OF 3

Hope

On my journey there has been darkness. I grew up with physical abuse as a child, and as an adult I deal with ongoing health challenges. I know that God has always been with me, but in all honesty, I couldn’t sense His presence amidst those dark times.

During the hardest days I could have easily walked away never to go back to Him. Then one day I came across Romans 12:12 (GNB version) which states to let our hope keep us joyful, to be patient in our troubles, and to pray at all times. In reading that, His word made it clear to me that I should keep praying through it all, and to be joyful even if I couldn’t “feel” the hope that He was offering me.

I chose to continually seek Him with my questions—never giving up—and believing that God would give me the answers, His comfort, and peace that I desperately needed.

Believing there is always hope will open our eyes wide to see ahead, open our ears to hear His whispers throughout each of those dark days, and give us the peace that only He can bring. Allowing His presence to permeate through our circumstances we can choose to wait for the hope with patience.

He already knew that dark days would be on our journey and He is not surprised by any of them. So why should we be surprised when the dark days come? Deep, never wavering hope is what we need to cling to.

This life is not always easy, but God didn't promise that it would be. When dark days come, we wait patiently on Him and continue to seek answers to those hard questions. His constant presence is always wrapped tightly around us, never letting go. No matter the darkness we face He will always remind us that there is always Hope in the end.
