Relationship Advice For Men

DAY 3 OF 8

Our Father

“A man needs to have carved in the mountains of his heart the great men he will look to when the chips are down. Fathers and grandfathers. Friends and mentors. These men need to be identified and chosen for their character and carved so clearly the character becomes our own.” Roger Thompson, We Stood Upon Stars

Even Jesus looked to a Father for approval. This is a point another great author, John Eldredge, often talks about. Think about it. When Jesus was baptized, the Father opened up the heavens just to let everyone know that it was His boy down there who He’s really happy with. Then, there was the time when Jesus broke religious laws to heal someone on the Sabbath and said He only does what He sees His Father doing. Also, remember when Jesus taught us how to pray? He started with, “Our Father ...”

Why is this fatherly connection so important? How does God feel about us? What’s your connection to your father or a father figure? How does it change the way you relate to “Our Father”?

These are all really great questions. Why don’t you take them to your heavenly Father in prayer today?

Watch today’s video, then after you read today’s Scriptures, spend some time talking with God.
